game developers have to deal with something called "the floor problem", can they walk on it? can they not walk on it? is there an object on top of it? does it break? is there a wall blocking it?

Valve handles this great, doors with 3D door handles are openable, doors that don’t have a handle or are simply a 2d texture are not

the first mother/Earthbound game actually had a solution to this. basically, you couldn't walk through rectangular doors but you could walk through curved doors
