@nbcnews: A bipartisan pair of senators has introduced a bill to fund school districts interested in exploring classroom cell phone restrictions. Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.) are looking to support a growing national push to limit students’ cell phone use during school hours. NBC News' Ryan Nobles reports.
Put away during instruction, sure. Taken away all day…no

I’d rather have my phone to text my parents goodbye in the situation a shooter is in my school than not have a chance to say goodbye at all. Sure cellphones are a distraction, but they’re better than-

Why is this our focus?? If you dont buy my phone,my clothes, or my supplies, you WILL NOT control them. Until you pay the phone bill, I keep it.Also, buying pouches while students are in poverty.

Kids in America should have their phones on and in their pockets considering the amount of school shootings that happen.

Now how would this impact TECH SCHOOLS? Their whole thing is technology and junk. Teachers just pissy because they can’t control kids like robots. The two seconds it takes to unlock those bag things could be the same amount of time it takes to get shot.

Schools spend so much money on this but don’t worry about the constant fear among students that a shooting can happen and we may not be able to contact our families and also in free periods there is no reason not to they say because people need to socialize but some kids aren’t good at that and yes it is good to make friends bu the possibility of them being even more isolated is very possible and most kids can socialize and talk to each other and yes this might improve mental help but its more likely to increase anxiety about fires or shooting. Some kids cant socialize and i think it is up to the teachers to help them communicate to others and make friends or if this is about phones in classrooms and someone’s phone rings i dont know why you aren’t just ignoring it i mean is it that hard not to it seems like more of a struggle for teachers sometimes. But in the end banning smartphones will not help students in the long run. Because then again this is about the students safety and they should focus on making sure shootings are very unlikely. And yes i do know addictions exist but getting rid of. Phones at school isn’t gonna do much. But yeah kids shouldn’t have to give up their phones and not feel protected just because some people want to hear more talking

I’m not a parent but I feel if I was sending my kid into a place that could possibly have a shooting I’d want them to have their phone on them at all times.
