my dad used to beat on my mom when we were little kids. by the time i was finally big enough to do something about it, she passed away from cancer. he lives all alone and i don’t speak to him anymore. but i wish i did because i know alcohol is to blame, not so much him as a human.

I’m not Vietnamese, but my father was an alcoholic too, so I can truly relate to what you’re going through. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. Please know you are not alone. I’m 32 now, and although I had to work through my traumas mostly on my own, I can honestly say that healing is possible. Today, I feel so much healthier not just mentally, but physically too. Please don’t lose hope. This is only one chapter of your life, not the whole story. You can become independent, leave that house, build a life for yourself, reparent your inner child, and heal your wounds. There is hope and a beautiful future still waiting for you.

My father was not an alcoholic nor any drug user. he was just crazy off of pure anger and moodiness. And he would often just barge in and start breaking stuff and being violent. And again he wasn't even on anything 😭

If you ignore him he’ll most likely stop. He’s looking for attention + drunk. Smh I have dealt with an alcoholic person before. I had to cut them off for my safety and sanity

The worst part is that when he sobers up in the morning, he won’t apologize or acknowledge his actions the day before. Acting like nothing happened…but we will carry that trauma until we die.
