44 years ago I got 4 weeks vacation, 3 personal days, 12 holidays and 12 sick days annually. 2025 I get 10 day’s vacation, and 3 holidays.

I remember when our facility back in the day took all the employees to six flags we got $100 in an envelope and free food and drinks all day…half of us went one day and the other half the next day

Pre 1984 DRGs didn't exist. The patients stayed until they were ready to go home, families weren't nasty or mad, the acuity hadn't shot up, some pts were up pushing their iv poles. The job was nice.

I don’t remember that, but I do remember when we used to get a merit increase AND a cost of living increase. Now, you’re lucky if you get 2% increase each year.

This reminds me of a question my husband asked. He said the nurses and pcts are the backbone of the hospital. Why doesn't the hospital cover the bill when yall go to the ER or admission?

At my first hospital, we got overtime pay plus 2 hours of vacation hours for picking up an extra shift. PTO? No, we got paid sick time and vacation hours
