thriftbooks is also a good choice for buying used books and media. a lot of times they have new books available too from working with bookstores that carry both new and used, though limited quantities

In Germany, we have regulated book pricing, therefore the books at Amazon are the same price as in independent bookstores. Which I think is the best model to ensure, bookstores can survive.

Also check and see if your library has a bargain basement where they sell donated books and books that have been called from the library that they can't use for discounted prices

My library has an insect fair every year! We got rained on last week but it’s also a great way to get people signed up for a card too. They have Libby, too, and I use libro.fm for anything else

my local libraries sell donated books for super cheap! i found my fav series (hard covers too!) and only paid 2 bucks. its super fun to go to different ones in the area bc some have more selection.

Also, depending on the area, you can get multiple library cards from different cities and counties to widen ur library of media. I have PWC, Alexandria, Arlington, DC, and Fairfax library cards.

My sm town of <3k has an awesome library that’s updated w/all the current tech (& their old microfiche readers lol), plus a 2 story house completely filled floor to ceiling w/used books for sale.
