In Norway childcare is $200 for one child, $140 for the 2nd, and from 3 or more it’s free. So max $340 per month. The U.S. sounds like a nightmare

What’s the point of working if your money is spent entirely on childcare? You might as well not earn & use that time to raise your children.

it’s also a safety thing some people don’t want to spend less and risk their child’s life.

It’s only expensive b/c government artificially increases the minimum wage & enforced burdensome regulation which increases the cost for nursery’s far above what that could be

I work in a nursery and get staff discount, still wouldn't be able to afford the costs of full time.

I agree with Dave, those costs could be brought down. his point is they if you're up the Financial creek you need to tighten your belt.

Yes childcare is expensive but it’s not 80k expensive. 5 years ago we had a Mary Poppins equivalent nanny who would have been £35k a yr full time incl employer taxes, pension etc (in Greater London Uk)

In lithuania the childcare costs are around 90€ per month per child plus there is also gov assistance for low wages. UK and US is insane for childcare

In Sweden its maximum 170 dollar per month for 1 child second child cheaper after 4 kids its free. If you earn under the average its even cheaper. The rest of the cost is tax funded

I had to pay to go to work for the first year of my career (went into a completely different industry after maternity) and it was crippling. I’m only just now seeing the financial benefit 5 years on

Not sure about America, but in the UK 80k is way too much for daycare, you could employ a full time nanny at over minimum wage for a lot less than that.

The balance is wrong. The two person income situation they created only punishes the successful or those that work.

But, you still chose to have those children in the current climate with the budget that you have.
