Broker told me to arrive at 10: got there at 950 & waited until 1 to get loaded. I asked for detention & he didn’t answer until I was fully loaded. He said no. I told him the load was going to be late

No, if you make me have to be there by an appt time, and you’re not ready then you’re getting charged $125 an hour for every hour I sit there. If no appt time then after 3 from check in time starts.

Before a carrier signs the rate confirmation they should get all accessorial fees in writing. If you do not agree with the customer’s terms then do not accept the load.

Thing is, what’s your appointment time. If your appointment was for 3pm but you got there at noon, then yeah there’s no detention pay for you.

If you wait three hours. That’s three hours off your logbook. I feel you should get paid for every hour. You’re sitting there. Unless it’s in the contract.

In my personal opinion or view its attention should start after 1 hour. This is why you have an appointment. If the appointment is not met with a certain criteria, then driver should be compensated

Get your accessorials agreed upon and in writing before dispatching. Always ask for the clear detention policy.

You wait 5 hours to get loaded, then you're late for your delivery appointment on the other end. But it's the driver's fault for being late.

Detebtion pays based on how long you get loaded, not how long ia the wait time.

broker should make a deal with shipper about loading time .. example.. broker should add time in the contract 2 hours or maybe 4 hours should be the maximum time to get the this job done if not then..

I have a question. Carrier sign confirmation with brokers or customer???? Who care what customer pay or not pay??? Brokers, as they signed confirmations, must pay all detentions.

I start looking for another load after an hour. If detention time isn’t promised, I’m out.

they'll do anything to avoid paying detention except actually cracking down on their own loaders

I only have one customer that doesn’t pay detention and I really just don’t understand it. Tell all my carriers that they won’t pay before sending RC

It’s our fault, if they tell you 12 and by 2 they don’t start we have to leave, I am tired of that bull, unless they agree to give you at least $200 more if they don’t even starter.

I will point out that bus drivers across the nation have no choice but to deal with this exact thing, and have way crappier jobs
