@abc7chicago: Hundreds of people were trapped in elevators during a major power outage that affected Spain, Portugal, and parts of France on Monday, April 28, according to local media reports citing firefighters. Footage captured by @glabinski shows him and his two friends trapped in an elevator in Barcelona. He told Storyful they were stuck for about 30 minutes before managing to exit on their own. “The lift stopped on the eighth floor and we were stuck. The neighbour called someone, but my friend opened the lift door,” he said. “If my friend hadn’t opened the door himself, we probably would have been stuck for a couple of hours. After 15 minutes, it was already very hot and the air was stuffy.” Spain and Portugal had almost fully restored power by the early hours of Tuesday. President Pedro Sanchez said that “the cause of the blackout is something that specialists have not yet been able to determine, but they will.”
