That’s the reason most people don’t want to go to the shop. It seems like most people are very dishonest now and just want to take your money. I don’t even want to take my new car to the dealer.

Went in for a front end alignment. Was told I needed new ball joints. Put them in myself and went back for the alignment. They still tried to sell me new ball joints. 🤔

I have a 2017 Ford Taurus with 46,000. 3.5 V6. Bad water pump. $4000 to replace the water pump and timing chain. This doesn’t include cam phaser pricing. 46,000 miles! Thx Ford!

Summer thing happened to me at My dealership during an oil change tried to tell me i needed new brakes on the rear because they were at half life brought it to 2 shops both said they were at 80% life

One of the problems is that service writers get a percentage of the repair. The more you quote/repair the bigger their pay check.

sounds like the fleet farm near me, back in 2019 i got tires put on my 2015 ram. said i needed a whole new front end. truck had 67k miles. took it to my trusted mechanic and he sent fleet farm a bill

i deal with these type everyday. they are parts changers. they order 2 of everything. return 1/2. This cost us to restock. Any shop will upsell and throw parts. most mechs have been fired due to?

Always pays to get a second opinion. We saved 6k by doing that. It still needed a new engine and brakes but I’m much happier paying under 15k instead of the 21k with my original quote. Same engine.
