Man broke into my apartment and my dog stood over me on my bed while the person stood in my doorway and let out a growl I’ve never heard beford. They ended up closing my bedroom door and leaving.

Female dogs tend to be more protective- also- get a breed with this trait built in. I got a female Rottweiler and she is the best dog I’ve ever owned. Protective and cautious with men but great with kids.

my dog is 90% blind and terrified of wind, but he's backed up to my legs and snarled at a guy who got too close. had me sobbing knowing he was ready to put himself out there knowing he couldn't win

I’ve always said any woman that lives alone should have a dog. I 100% slept better once I got a dog when I lived alone. The barking sucks but hey, it keeps me safe.

I believe it. my sweet, conflict avoidant golden retriever protected me from another dog. she was not having it when it tried to bite me. I was amazed, she used her whole body to block the other dog.

my german shep LOVED my dad. when i was little he would raise his hand at me to see what she would do (i was in on this) and she would LUNGE at him like she never met him in order to protect me.

I deliberately don’t discourage barking when my dogs react to people near my home (not for a few minutes at least anyway). It’s good for people to hear them bark. I also have two CCs because I am anxious and have ptsd due to previously being attacked. My boys make me feel safe

A few years ago my apt building was broken into & every apt was broken into except mine & another woman’s who were the only 2 with dogs. Mine was a 10lb Maltese.

Great info. If a stalker has been in your home & knows you have a dog they will place a sedation drug or poison in your dogs food or water so they can get to you w/o interference from the dog.

my mom used to let our angel of a german shepherd jump up on our glass front door and leave spit and scratches at eye level when any stranger came to the door. & she wouldn’t clean it very often lol
