Jam & Lewis were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for their accomplishments in songwriting and production. . Ralph and JG performed songs written by the duo for their solo careers as well as songs written for New Edition. Ralph performed a shortened version of his classic slow jam, "Do What I Gotta Do". Jam & Lewis wrote this sweet break-up ballad for Ralph's solo album released in 1990. The song, released in May 1991, peaked at number two on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. .
