I spoke with him many times at the motorcycle hang out in LA called the Rock Store. Great guy, salt of the Earth - will talk to anyone about cars or motorcycles.

My parents had a Lecar a French 83 Renault. Strangely it was quick,. it blew a head gasket. It was warrantied it took forever. the next year we hit a chuck hole on the passenger front. the assembly went thru the hood.
