Canada here, I lived on the eastcoast for 26 yrs and black bears are mostly harmless and scared, they would rather avoid you, but grizzlies are a different machine and huge only thing more dangerous

I was in Montana middle of glacier national park and had a standoff with 2 young grizzlies at the same time. I don’t recommend it!
