I'm both of them. 500 characters ready to go, each of them with complex backstories and extended families to pull even more characters from. Also they consistently open the wrong door.

I played the game ShadowDark last year, and it plays a lot like old dnd. Mostly focused on dungeon crawls, most folks expect to lose a character every session. It’s AMAZING

It’s cause player character deaths are so much less common now. Never grew attached cause you had like 3 backup characters already prepared before the campaign even started

pretty sure this is backwards. Old gamers know the pain and effort that goes into a well developed campaign over months, even years. Now-a-days,it's all modules and flat. non-3-dimentional characters
