Smart means you adapt quickly, intelligent means you understand quickly For exampl if there is a complex mathematics problem, smart people will understand the teacher explaining the problem quickly

I think it's our complexity of emotional and creativity. when not just surviving like other species, we make drawing, writing and music. we have empathy, common sense and a concep of manner to others.
