The only time I said 10/10 was a kidney stone blocking drainage and kidney about to rupture. Accused of seeking narcotics. Then they had to surgically remove the stone. Natural childbirth 7/10.

I just had a double mastectomy on June 10th. During the consultation with my Plastic surgeon I asked if I would be staying in the hospital overnight to help manage my pain. I was concerned because I have been on pain management for almost two years due to three blown discs and nerve damage. I was going to have a procedure but I was diagnosed with cancer and my back procedure took a backseat. So I was concerned about my pain level. I was told I would wake up with little to no pain. I'd most likely feel like I have pressure on my chest. I would not be staying in the hospital because once I'm asleep I'd get two nerve blocks. I was told these nerve blocks were a game changer in recovery. So in pre-op I'm told the same thing by the anesthesiologist who happens to be the surgeons brothers. I'm expecting to wake up with minimal discomfort. They woke me up in the OR to put the post surgical bra on, which later I discovered was two sizes too small and basically pinched my drains pushing them right into a nerve. Anway back to the OR. I woke up in excruciating pain. My pain was so intense my body was convulsing. I thought I was going to bite my tongue off. All I could muster to say is "Pain...bad pain". The recovery nurse took my blood pressure and it was 203/155 or something close to that. I heard the anesthesiologist order something for my BP in fear of hematoma? As I'm in recovery literally shaking in pain. I'm trying to self soothe but my chest area felt like it was literally on fire with micro knives sta*bing me. It was by far the worst pain ever. I've had kidney stones, stones stuck in my urethra. I've had collapsed lungs and this topped them all. It felt like I wasn't numbed at all. So the anesthesiologist informs me he has to go to his next case but sometimes it takes 9 hours for a nerve block to work. I've literally talked to three other doctors, one being my pain management doctor who is also an anesthesiologist and he said that's not true. Why would they tell me I'd wake up with minimal to no pain after a three and a half hour surgery "if" the medication to numb my pain won't take affect for another six hours? 👇

Yup every day so I can’t get my anxiety or depression under control because I’m in so much pain I can’t sleep and it depresses me and causes me anxiety

As an autistic person, we interpret pain differently. I know often times when my anxiety is bad, it’s because I haven’t recognized how badly I’m hurting physically. Dealing with my pain often reduces my anxiety.

Women in particular are told everything is anxiety, for me it's PVC with random runs of tachycardia up to 171BPM. 15 years of anxiety meds instead of looking at my heart
