No wont pay off. Go in, do as little as possible. Its more about who is liked ,not what is done. Being your bosses buddy will get you just as far. no extra work needed.

I did that and you just get more work with no pay no promotions. My boss did that and they gave his promotion to an outsider.

What I noticed was when someone says “someone needs to do that” someone needs to take care of this is the signal that that person should be the one to do it. BE SOMEBODY…it an opportunity

In a company now that had that right hand person. He did it all and was the best. First one played off by upper management because he was highly paid and he was replaced with a new hire at less salary
