Autistic people tend to have either hyper empathy, or low empathy. I went from hyper empathy to low empathy after I was cheated on I used to feel things so deeply in my heart now I don’t feel anything for anyone. It’s not a misconception, it’s just a stereotype. And like any other stereotype, it’s not true for everyone.

It's because we don't express it in the way they do, autistic ppl usually don't do the over the top song and dance of "Oh noooo! are you okayyyy?", so allistics think we have no empathy when we do we just show it differently
