rembrant :
The look that turned
My love burns, despite the wall of distance,
across sea and land, in the cage of dreams.
Thousands of miles, but the heart remains,
with her, whose gaze was once so clear.
We spoke silently through the language of the eyes,
where there were no words, but everything still lay.
A glimpse, a spark, a whisper so true –
now it is gone, and I stand alone.
She does not seek me in the noise of the crowd,
her eyes have found another light.
I see warmth turned away, an extinguished glow,
and in my chest the distress of loss grows.
But still I burn, despite all doubt,
despite her turning away, silent and still.
For love does not die, it sometimes rests –
but when a look dies… then a shore freezes.
