I actually worked for a company by the name of quikrete that did something similar when they direct deposited my money in my bank the company check basically bounced and had to wait 48 hours for them

I used to have to pick up my husbands paper check from him, endorsed & race to the bank to cash it before his coworkers got off work bc the company never had enough money to cover everyone’s checks

We had to setup an account with my hubby’s old job’s bank so we could cash his check on payday or it would bounced 🙃 even on payday sometimes we couldn’t get cash it was a mess

Twice they did this to me over a restaurant check and I even went to the bank that it was drawn from.. i eventually got direct deposit but i was never told what the problem was everytime i came with the paper check.. it just took forever- a bank manager to initial and several clicks of the computer and several uh hmmm..ok… hmmmm

Oh HELL no! And I've definitely been the race to cash a check person because my employer was writing bad checks and the later you cashed it, the less chance you had of it working.
