@queenmary8901: The Dikenga cosmogram was created by our African ancestors and brought through the heart and soul of enslaved Africans, to be (re)born here in the U.S.This symbol represents the world of the living, the world of the dead, the waters that divide, life/noon afterlife/midnight, death/sunset, reincarnation/ rising Sun. The four points and quadrants are divided by a vertical (mukula) and horizontal (kalûnga) line. The four points: Musoni, Kala, Tukula, and lastly Luvemba. All moving in rotation, counterclockwise & in perfect order. The symbol was found etched in the walls of the Underground Railroad by slaves, and today can still be found in baptist churches, those with the knowledge of it hold it to very high regard. Dikenga cosmogram is native to people of the African diaspora and specifically those connected through ancestral bloodline to Bântu-Kôngo people. (If you're African American and have roots in the South, more than likely you are connected to this group of people.) :) We are going to be carving this symbol into the ancestor tree this week, the ancestor tree will also be where animal ceremonies will be held and honored. Honoring life and death and all of its cycles in between.
