I stopped using braiding gel and edge control for my braids. I use blue magic and pink lotion and my scalp don’t get irritated, but you should go see a doctor.

per my experience as a hairstylist, washing the hair to be installed prior helps. not using excessive gel on the scalp when braiding and good natural hair grease helps protect scalp. also products that have alot of chemicals,alcohol, dyes..really contribute to this happening try to stay away. I recommend wash your scalp with sulfer 8 shampoo and u can use the light blue super 8 hair grease over parts to clean up. just my opinion

I use the whole sulfer8 line and looove it! Mine used to be really bad like this as well they also have a braid spray that helps a ton spray it 2/3 times every other day.

you have a scalp condition that needs prescribed medicated shampoo to be treated …this would have happened regardless of the braids/gels however additional products exacerbate it if your scalp is not treated
