I hope your grandma understands the biology of dementia as otherwise she will have hurt feelings ie he is going to forget the first gf too shortly and then how to dress etc and then pass away. Unfortunately the disease goes in reverse order and so first they forget short term then the kids then wife then the parents etc

dementia typically affects newer memories first, like they may forget recent events and have hard time to recall new information but still remember people and events from many years ago

When my grandma with Alzheimer’s started talking about my granddad who she divorced 50 years earlier and had died over 20 years ago, she was talking about having to be home on time for him 😭😭
