Day 1, we’re diving into a glowing masterpiece from ancient China—the Gilt Bronze Human-Shaped Lamp, also known as the Changxin Palace Lamp. 🪔 Unearthed in 1968 from the tomb of Dou Wan, wife of King Jing of the Zhongshan state, this 2nd century BCE artifact was discovered in Mancheng, Hebei, and is now preserved in the Hebei Museum. Standing at 48 cm tall, this lamp depicts a kneeling maid holding a lantern, cleverly designed to channel smoke through her hollow sleeve into her body, keeping the air clean.
