School is always a good choice if you can afford it and are good at school. Everyone learns differently. Film school is good for learning technical things, discipline, getting credentials, etc…

Film grad with 5+ yrs in casting. You don’t need school, but it taught me the basics fast. Most of my class left film, it’s a tough industry.

School is worth it because it makes you a smarter person with deeper ideas and a bigger bag of creative resources. The “film” part of it is optional. Film you can learn by doing.

A few film schools could potentially be good for connections like USC, UCLA, NYU, and AFI. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon met a producer who changed their lives at Harvard so that's another route.

I don’t know that film school is worth it but I grew up in a very conservative, religious, and homogenous community. Film school was important to me to just expand my world and my taste.

I learned two things from film school: 1. People who never wrote anything great are the ones that write books on how to write a script 2. No one can teach you how to write beyond their own abilities. With that being said I found film school good for me to focus on writing and to allow myself to realize what stories needed work and what flowed out naturally.

going to film school soon. I can learn so much online but having access to good equipment and talented people is so helpful. Student loan also helps me move out as I live in the middle of no where so making short films is a nightmare

Film school is good if you dont have connections, have family in the industry, access to high quality equipment or live in LA. I’ve gotten so much out of film school. Best choice of my life.

Yes it’s worth it for connections , practice and community I won’t change it for the world it was the best times of my life. It’s not mandatory for success and not for everyone but it was great for me
