@mrs.maker.of.the.home: My last half a cow weighed in at just under 300 pounds for the hanging weight, the hanging weight of this half cow came in at 367 pounds. What that means is last time I ordered a half it was able to all fit in my 10 ft.³ freezer. This time I did need to have some space cleared out in my other freezer. If you don’t have two chest freezers, make sure you have some space cleared out in your main freezer upstairs with your fridge just in case your cow is larger than anticipated. With that being said, I probably could have fit a lot more in my 10 ft.³ freezer if I did not want to have it all so well organized, and I wanted to fill every gap. Allowing yourself slightly extra room will allow you to keep it organized in an easily accessible manner. I still have to do all the math on exactly how much meat I got for this half, but I paid $1835 including the fees for the butcher. I got a TON of meat this time though.
