@cbsnews: The CEO of United Airlines penned a letter to employees outlining what he thinks the Federal Aviation Administration needs to do to fix all the delays plaguing Newark Liberty International Airport. The delays began last Monday when crews in the Philadelphia air traffic control facility that lines up flights into and out of Newark lost radar and communications with the planes for at least 30 seconds. In a new message to employees Wednesday, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby emphasized "all the flights are absolutely safe. When there are FAA issues -- technology outages, staffing shortages, etc. -- the FAA requires all airlines to slow down aircraft and/or cancel flights to maintain the highest levels of safety." #news #United #Newark #aviation #flight #delayed
United is known for constantly lying. I would not believe anything coming out of his mouth. Losing contact with planes for 90 seconds is the definition of unsafe.

What he’s stating is an opinion not a fact, how is losing contact with ATC “safe”

It’s all construction delays. You go from three runways to one… you have to slow down the volume of aircraft. Additionally, the volume will increase and decrease with wx patterns. 15JUN2025

Kirby asking for EWR slots under the guise of safety is hilarious. It would be a windfall for UA

I’m glad they’re cutting down the flights in and out to keep passengers safe. Pilots wouldn’t fly there if it wasn’t safe. Their lives are on the line too.

I was a flt attdt at EWR 05-08, when it was slotted, and it was a NIGHTMARE then. If a bird passes wind in Queens everything went to pot. I can't imagine what it must be like now. I refuse to use EWR!

Is it bad that I just don’t trust any CEO in America at this point? They’re all politicians and their word is easily bought.

I "LOVE" how he says they "UPGRADED" their flights to have MORE seats per aircraft!!! THAT'S NOT AN UPGRADE ITS A FLYING SARDINE CAN!!! NO ONE LIKES MORE SEATS!! NO ONE BUT A MONEY GRUBBING AIRLINE!!!

FAA won’t compromise on safety? So, who cares if they don’t have enough staff to make sure technology is up to date? Thought people and technology are what keeping us safe? PMO.
