I think it's good for the masses yes, but Amazon has also changed the authors' and publishers' sides so much. I've heard of authors who are losing larger sums of money than they would've if they went the traditional route, simply because people can so easily return books they've finished within 3-4 weeks and get a full refund, even if they liked the books. And that's not even to speak of what's happening to the libraries. As with everything, there are good parts and bad parts to it.
