Apple & Rice Porridge - For Babies 6 Months+ This apple and rice porridge is my go-to when Sammie’s tummy needs something gentle, soothing, and healing. Apples bring natural pectin to help firm stools, and the blended rice offers easy-to-digest nourishment. Perfect for babies 6 months and up, especially during the stomach flu, teething, or post-illness recovery. Simple, wholesome, and mom-approved! Ingredients: • 2 apples, peeled and small diced • 1/4 cup blended rice (pre-blend dry rice into a coarse powder or use rice flour) • 3 cups water or broth (use bone broth or veggie broth for added nutrients) Instructions: • In a small saucepan, combine the blended rice and water or broth. • Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent clumping or sticking. • Once the mixture begins to thicken, add in the diced apples. • Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer until both the rice and apples are soft and fully cooked, about 15–20 minutes. • Stir frequently until the mixture becomes a smooth, semi-thick porridge consistency. • Let cool slightly before serving. Important Notes: • Suitable for babies 6 months and older, depending on readiness for solids. • You can blend or mash the finished porridge to your baby’s preferred texture. • Use filtered water or homemade broth to support hydration and gentle digestion. • Apples provide pectin, which soothes the stomach and helps firm up stools, perfect during bouts of diarrhea or stomach upset. • Rice is gentle on the gut and a great source of easy-to-digest carbohydrates. • Always test the temperature before feeding to ensure it's baby-safe. • For added nutrition once baby is feeling better, a drizzle of coconut oil or a pinch of Ceylon cinnamon can be stirred in (for babies over 6 months only).
