Having been born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he is the first ever American Pope in all of the 2000 years of history. Spending 20 years working and living in Peru, he became a citizen and has great ties with Latin America. He encourages us to love everyone and that God loves everyone as well. He mentions wanting to carry on the work of Pope Francis before him. It would appear that the Vatican has spoken and has chosen someone that can help us through these hard times and that can unite us and search for peace.
