We should be able to come up with other solutions as a society. Its not necessary or useful to arrest those thay refuse shelter. Are there really no other options? Other countries dont lock up the homeless with thw criminal. Why are we? It’s wrong.

Shelters often have rules like only one night stays, often don’t have the accommodations for certain disabilities, and most of them do not allow homeless people to take their pets. this is elitism-fueled cruelty at its finest.

I wrote a proposal for an initiative similar to this plan 4 years ago for my political science course. Compassion without truth is ineffective and actually keeps people in the state they’re in.
