I just came back from Mexico and the immigration officer asked me if I was in the process of renewing my green card ( expires in Dec) I said no , he asked me if I was planning on becoming a citizen and I said no , he said I need to hurry and do so bc of the president we have now

I have 10 years green card I traveled to to Algeria for two weeks and I came back to USA it was very smooth they asked two questions the reason for my trip and how long I stayed there !!

I have had a permanent green card since I was a young kid. I committed a felony and was picked up by ice after doing my time in state penn. I was placed on deportation procedures and saw the judge which dropped the charges because there was no intent in my crime. I know I cannot travel right now because I'm still on probation but what about after? I would guarantly appreciate your input
