It’s SO important to have your own money, regardless of gender. NEVER be financially dependent on anyone!

Honestly the one thing we use the joint account for is the food shop and any bills to do with the house. I don’t think you need to ‘share’ money beyond that…

The only time I think it doesn’t work is when you don’t earn similar wages .

A woman takes time off work and misses promotions etc to have kids. So imo paying 50% and seperate finances makes no sense in that situation. 1/2

We have a joint account which has all the mortgage/bills money then our own separate money/savings. I think that’s normal 🤣

We have joint & separate accounts. Joint for all bills & a joint savings but then also our own account & savings so we don’t have to constantly discuss how we spend money & for us that’s perfect.

I think this is more common when the woman earns more in my experience, which is fine if you have a good man who does a lot for you in a different way

I think it works when you have similar lifestyles. My ex before I met my partner earned quite a bit less than me - as a result he couldn’t afford to go to fancy restaurants and more luxurious holidays
