Thank you Liz. I walked away from a producer and wondered if I did the right thing. He presented a contract that required $2500 up front and then studio time, etc., because he was once in a famous band and he could take a stack of cds of artists to a label to see if it was liked.

I started writing books a couple of years ago as an Indie author. They call those people vanity publishers. Same deal run the hell away cause all they wanna do is bleed you dry.

in my 30 years of session playing as a drummer I've worked with some shady producers who would get rich families to put up five grand a song back in the day and because I was a real session player I could save the producer money and instead of having the drummer play cuz they were young and inconsistent I would come in for a fee and do the whole record in a day as opposed to one or two songs and a lot of extra work for the engineer. so they might do a five or six on EP at five grand of song. that's $30,000. so this quote unquote producer would make a boatload of money I'd make six or seven hundred bucks for the day save them a whole lot of money on studio time and the producer pockets a huge payday. that is all the producer was interested in so after these groups have their glorified demo nothing ever happens cuz there's no incentive for this quote unquote producer who was an a&r guy at Capitol records already knows they're not going to get a deal cuz he could either sign them or take it to somebody else it all is label connections but he was making so much money with this racket he didn't have to do anything else. not bad to make about 20 grand for a week's worth of work that you did nothing but higher great people around you and you get to reap the benefits

Yeah, I just went to that. I had a contract offered, but before I could sign the contract, they wanted me to work with this promoter that he reached out to me and said I would have to pay $3000 for him to run a six week campaign on my music and that was supposed to be promoting it to radio station stuff like that.
