Meal prep will never be the same. It wasn’t too long ago that I thought of meal prep as something that was boring, a waste of time, effort, and food Even if I had the best of intentions on a Sunday while prepping my chicken, lean beef, rice, and broccoli - that motivation would ultimately fade as the week rolled on I’d have to either force myself to eat the prepped food that I didn’t want to eat, or end up tossing it when it started going bad Meal prepping foods that don’t bring us excitement - is a recipe for disaster Not only will we not adhere to it, even if we did, it’s more than likely not even an ideal diet - we need variety in our diets to thrive, both emotionally and physically The breakthrough occurred for me when I discovered two things: 1.) Meal preps can be indulgent/something you look forward to, and still progress you towards your goals. You should crave the foods you prepare - Focus on optimizing around calories, protein and macronutrients while making your favorite foods. It requires learning a few basic ingredient substitutions, and making some small ratio adjustments. This can be easily learned - just by making a few of my recipes you’ll start to pick up on the basics. You can also always alter my base recipes by adding in any greens/veggies of your preference 2.) Freezing meal preps not only retains flavor much better than refrigerating, but it also removes my primary issue with meal prepping… the time pressure. - You don’t need to meal prep 10 boxes of the same recipe and eat them all in one week. That sounds miserable and is why most people despise meal prepping. If you freeze them, you can spread that recipe over several months, all the while adding new meals to your frozen food stockpile.
