a predominantly Black community named Oscarville was indeed submerged during the creation of Lake Lanier.
📌 What happened:
Oscarville, located in northeastern Forsyth County near the Chattahoochee River, was a thriving Black agricultural community. In 1912, racial violence, including lynchings and the forced expulsion of all Black residents, decimated the town .
After many years and layers of injustice, the remaining land—including what was left of Oscarville—was purchased under eminent domain in the 1950s to build Buford Dam and establish Lake Lanier .
The dam closed in 1956, and as the lake filled, it submerged the ruins of Oscarville—homes, farmland, and even cemeteries—drowning the final physical vestiges of the community

People talk about Oscarville but never talk about the Indian burial ground that was flooded as well that’s the main source of it being cursed

even if we ignore the supernatural aspect this lake is clearly dangerous with just the sheer number of people who've drowned there, whether or not you believe in spirits no one should be in that water

These two faces should not be commenting on none of this because it is no longer their business, but it is their home away from home so enjoy the lake why don’t you? Oh yeah, the ancestors are already here. They’re everywhere observable reality.🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🌅☀️☀️☀️

The lake was a cover up to what was done to Oscarville. 😡 If you know the history of that place then you know why so many bad things occur.
