@theadventureaddicts: insect repellant for your clothing & gear!! 👇🏼 I wish it didn’t take me so long to learn about permethrin, but it’s been SUCH a game changer since we learned about it!! I get absolutely destroyed by mosquitoes camping and backpacking, and have left multiple trips early because the bugs were too intense to even sit outside. We started treating our gear with @SawyerProducts permethrin a couple of years ago, and can happily say we can withstand a LOT more bugs now. (This isn’t sp0nsored!!) How to apply it: 1. Lay out your gear and/or clothing outside or in a well ventilated space. 2. Spray the fabric about 6 inches away sweeping back and forth until the fabric is covered completely. 3. Let it dry for about 2 hours and you’re good to go! This will last 6 washes in the laundry or 6 weeks of outdoor sun exposure!! It also protects against ticks, chiggers, mites, biting flies, and 55 other insects. It is odorless after drying and doesn’t ruin your clothing or gear, but is as effective as 100% DEET! It can be so helpful to treat your socks, shoes, hats, and other items you may not think of. We have found it to be super helpful on our tent so the bugs aren’t just surrounding us waiting for us to come out. You do still need to apply insect repellant to any exposed skin, but this has helped so much because I used to get eaten through my clothing. They also have a product you can spray on dogs for insect repellant!! This product is toxic to cats while it’s wet, so make sure you do this outside out of reach of cats until it’s dry!!
