I think I understand it now. the entire concept of "y/n" is supposed to be a simulation of the user's reality but in the universe of the fanfiction they are reading, correct? the reason why y/n is such a complex character is because not only are we, the readers, able to put ourselves inside their shoes, but we can also experience the things they feel as if they are actually happening to us. it’s quite beautiful if you really think about it, because it gives us something that we can all relate to no matter our differences. every time y/n falls, we all feel their pain, similar to how the stars all align with one another when forming a constellation. we may not be a strong and brave warrior like reiner, or an underestimated but intelligent soldier like armin, but in the grand scheme of things we are all the same. we all bleed, we all thrive, we all laugh, we all love. we are all human. the way humanity bonds with one another over the fictional characters that we create in our heads is truly fascinating, and it allows for the wildest of friendships to be unshackled from their chains
