THANK YOU. Only difference I don’t claim African American only Black American. African American can be an umbrella for those from Africa just like Asian American is for people from Asia

The Black American ethnicity is being able to trace your Black American lineage to the southern states in America from 1619-1964. If your ancestors weren’t on this land before the Civil Rights act you’re not Black American.

This why I’m always saying we need to agree upon an ethnic name so that we can sperate race in convo. Some people like soulaan/soulaani. We need suggestions and conversation!

You’re correct. As a 1st gen 🇹🇹🇳🇬, this isn’t hard to understand because I’ve had to unlearn a few things and actually educate myself over the years. It’s willful ignorance and elitism based on media/what’s learned in the home countries and what’s said by immigration when they come to the US. Many of my African and Caribbean people don’t take the time to educate themselves on the Black American culture, history and experience and that’s where the disconnect comes from.

They should worry about Brazil. There are more displaced Africans in Brazil than in America. They should stop worrying about us.

They been telling us we different for YEARS, now when we delinate ourselves it's a problem! But it's ok when they don't want to be considered "Black".

Same enemies. Divide & Conquer strategies. Confusion & disfunction being pushed upon the people(s). The real question is who created these terms and who stands to benefit or has been benefiting from all of this conflict? Focus☮️

I say they have a racial Black identity but not a cultural or ethnic Black identity. I think that ADOS actually conflated racial Blackness and cultural/ethnic/lineage based Blackness. That’s a mistake because nobody forms community nor share values based on race
