As someone with corn allergy who has minor to major allergic reactions on a weekly basis due to corn being in everything including the air in most places…I’ll take the risk.

For me whenever I breakout in hives Benadryl works really fast at stopping the itch. Is there anything that works that fast? Zyrtec is great for seasonal allergies but not great for fast relief

Benadryl is the only antihistamine that helps my wife's migraines. She can't get rest without it during a severe migraine episode. She also has POTS.

Benadryl is the only one I can find with 25 mg, which I need for extreme allergic reactions. The 10 mg Zyrtec and Allegra’s don’t work for me…are there other options?

Right now I’m taking Zyrtec and Benadryl and I’m promising you. Benadryl is the only thing getting me through the day with my seasonal allergies.

I need someone to include me in a side effect study. In my early 20s a psychiatrist told me that taking benadryl would help me sleep and it was not addictive. I've taken 2 benadryl every night for 20 years. Since learning about benadryl and dementia I've started a dr prescribed sleep aid. I should be in a study.😢

With Zyrtec and Allegra they work slow. I have to take them religiously every single day for the effect to build. Benadryl works in like 10 minutes and I can breathe again. No sleepiness or hyperness for me.

What about iodinated contrast allergy prep or hx transfusion reaction? Do they have evidence second gen works as well in those circumstances?

I hope it doesn’t go away completely. I don’t use it very often, but when I do it’s for allergic reactions, and I’m nervous about switching due to my reactions sometimes including mild anaphylaxis.

You say they’re not as effective, but I find that with my allergies when they’re at their height, Benadryl is the only one that takes care of the symptoms.

So reading the comments. The assumptions that everyone can afford to see a doctor and prescription drugs in the US is laughable. Great Info and heads up that the one thing I found to help is bad.
