My family saw all the signs but they don’t like labels so they didn’t get me diagnosed, I’m almost 20 and still not diagnosed since I don’t have the confidence to do it by myself.

If they didn't see it with dad's bookcase of ordinance servey maps, and mum's hoarders of craft materials, what hope did I have 😅

My sister still needs to go to Spectrum Savers, when I got diagnosed she asked me if I 'practised for it' & still insists I'm not autistic

in my parents defence, they didnt see the signs bc they thought it was normal (they were just autistic too, i encouraged them to get tested once i received my diagnosis). the joke made me cackle though, thank you.

I can’t get a diagnose cause I can’t remember my traumatic youth. They say if they don’t know how my youth went they can’t give me a diagnosis. Even thought they say I have a lot of signs of autism.

it wasn't diagnosed a lot because they didn't know about it till the early 2000s so cut people a break

In my late 20s or early 30s I noticed: “That’s it! That’s what’s going on! I’m autistic!” My mother could have handled it better when I was a child but it got overlooked in so many girls. So, ok, the 80s weren’t a good time to be diagnosed as a girl. But I found it out myself 💪 Few years ago, with 41/42, my aunt mentioned, really casually, tiny side note, mentioned randomly, that the doctors suspected that I am autistic when I was in primary school…. 😵‍💫…

my dad and brothers were diagnosed. they blamed me being sick on all my autism signs. the psychologist I saw at 16 told me I didn't need a referal because I could sit in the chair and speak. Also told me that ADHD was a good enough diagnosis if I had autism I would be violent. Which is funny because every day of my life my dad walked up to me and said "you're autistic". Now my daughters are diagnosed/getting diagnosed

If it wasn't the parents, then it was the people doing the diagnosis back then😅

My Mum did see the signs, took me to the Drs stating that there was something different about me, and the Dr said...nope. Despite the fact that my behaviour was worse than my diagnosed younger brother.

As a parent of late teenaged who just got them the diagnosis: I saw something was different in many various ways. When I tried to explain to professionals they interpreted this as me worrying too much.
