audi tech here, yes this does get you the result you are looking for but this is definitely not a necessary process. there is a measuring value in the ecm for the intake camshaft adaptation value, this will show how stretched the timing chain has become. 30 seconds, not 10-15 minutes.

It’s the valves. You just proved it by showing the relative compression. If the chain was stretched (which it is) it would still have compression above what you are seeing. Take your bore scope and look at the sealing face of valves. I see this all the time.

Off topic, I have a 2021 Highlander with 29,000 miles . AC stopped working , dealership charged 640.00 diagnostic fee. Couldn’t find a problem, just put in Freon… thoughts?

Audi injectors 99% of the time stick wide open and will dead miss 1 cylinder and smoke like crazy. Also pulling the cover to check timing seems easier than all that. Lol

You could just look at the cam position cam counters and see if the intake and exhaust correlate, if they don’t then timing is off
