@each1teach148: Mexican migrants often come from land that was once Mexico - California, Arizona, Texas, and more. After the U.S. took that land in 1848, many became foreigners overnight. They didn’t cross the border - the border crossed them. Today, undocumented Mexicans pay taxes but get no benefits - no housing, food stamps, or healthcare. Meanwhile, some white South Africans are being accepted as refugees, even though they’re fleeing equality, not war. Under apartheid, they upheld a racist system. Now that it’s over, they come to the U.S. and can access housing and aid. One group is fleeing oppression - the other is fleeing fairness. #latino #immigration #black #racismsucks
