𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗧. 𝗝𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐋𝐮𝐤𝐞 𝟗:𝟓𝟏-𝟓𝟔 (𝟑𝟎 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓) St. Jerome, whose memorial we celebrate today, was a man of passion and discipline. He devoted his life to the study and translation of the Sacred Scriptures, giving us the Latin Vulgate so that people could encounter Christ more deeply through His Word. Known for his fiery temper, Jerome also struggled with patience, yet he allowed God’s Word to transform him into a true servant of the Gospel. His famous words remind us: “𝙄𝙜𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩.” In today’s Gospel, we see Jesus being rejected by a Samaritan village, and James and John wanting to call down fire in anger. But Jesus rebukes them, choosing instead the path of mercy and understanding. Like Jerome, we are invited to let the Word of God shape our hearts so that we respond not with vengeance but with love. As 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬, we are called to journey with the Word of God as our compass. In a world filled with rejection, division, and anger, we must not give in to the temptation of hatred or despair. Instead, like Jesus, we must walk steadily toward the mission entrusted to us, and like St. Jerome, we must root ourselves in the Scriptures so that our faith becomes alive and active in the face of challenges. The challenge today is clear: Do we allow God’s Word to soften our hearts and guide our actions, or do we remain quick to judge and condemn? As pilgrims, let us carry the light of Scripture in our journey, becoming instruments of peace, mercy, and hope in our communities. 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬🙏 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐨❤️
