Imo when it comes to veganism... being like 90% vegan for the rest of your life is much better than being 100% vegan for just a few years. I think vegans who are all or nothing are driving people away more than anything else.

on the opposite side of it, the amount of people that won't eat something if it's labeled vegan. had someone telling me my oreos tasted funny once because I said they were vegan...just regular oreos

vegan is a lifestyle. its about reducing all suffering, so you also dont wear leather etc. it is a black and white thing. and making it grey really makes my life difficult and does not help the animals. you can say you eat mostly plant based. that is about diet

I like to call myself "vegetarian+" because I'm mostly plant-based but don't beat myself up if there's no vegan option or I get mixed up and eat some milk powder etc.

people forget that's it's just literally a diet. yes, you can be vegan for 20 years and then stop for a month because you're going on a trip! it's a personal choice, not a life sentence

I am vegan now but when I was like 12 I did think about not eating meat with the exception of fish and I didn't know there was a word for it until I went to school a couple months later and my one teacher explained that is what she is and used the term for it

Kindly reminder that the average " vegan phase" is 2-3 years, so eating mostly vegan your whole life is better than being a perfect one for two years and quitting :) 🫶🏽🫶🏽

My uncle is a pescetarian, but he eats a steak every year on his birthday (and sometimes for other celebrations). But he still calls himself a pescetarian. I respect that.

I actually prefer doing language. rather than saying 'I am a vegetarian' I say I practice vegetarianism. 'practice' is an ongoing process, and not always consistent

Hard agree. Also think this is why so many people now self diagnose as ADHD etc, because they want to feel an identity with a group and "belong" - humans like being included and excluding others.

there (sort of) are terms for that! it's called a lacto (still consumes eggs) and/or ovo (still consumes dairy) vegetarian, ofc this doesnt account for people who dont drink milk but do eat cheese but its something

FR! I think of veganism as a practice rather than an identity. There's no perfection and no perfect end-point where I'll be A Vegan, I practice veganism because it's worth doing every day.
