@kristingl: The main reason why so many automatically do not recommend layering Retinol & Vitamin C is because both actives can be irritating on their own. Combine the two carelessly (without understanding your skin) and it can be a disaster. If you’re new to skincare, I would NOT recommend these products. Beginners are ok IF you understand your skin. If you understand your skin well and want to try this combo, just remember to… 1️⃣ Choose a product that is already formulated with both Vitamin C & Retinol 2️⃣ Make sure one or both actives are at a low concentration Another argument for not layering the two actives is pH 1️⃣ Different products have their own pH adjusters, layering one product on top of another does not change the pH under normal conditions 2️⃣ When combined in the same formula, there are methods to maintain the effective pH of both Vitamin C and Retinol, this varies depending on the formula 👉🏼 I am NOT encouraging everyone to try this combination.
