Vet tech here. The people saying you’re rewarding his behavior doesn’t know anything about dog behavior 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️He is telling you in about 10 different ways to stop. But because you ignore them, he turnes to growling and biting. Because nothing else works. It’s called “the aggression ladder”. He shouldn’t be set in place or punished for it. It would just tell him to jump on the ladder and go straight for biting next time you or a person or even a child touches him and it triggers him. Punishment never works. Listening to them and their signals works, and teaches them that they don’t have to jump the ladder. His owners should administer some anti anxiety meds next time. Or he will be a so anxious every time, and with time a biter.

As a previous owner of a reactive dog, Thank you for sticking up for them and explaining their behaviour. So many people think a biting dog is a bad dog but it's just about understanding why they do it and helping them understand

Can you imagine the parent of this pup seeing how beautiful you are with their dog whilst not in their presence? They’d be so over the moon you look after them like a baby as I’m sure that’s how they’d treat and talk to him xx
