@deardarlingdesignstudio: Replying to @lil.alien.mama elementary aged children should not be worried about their weight and def shouldn’t be shamed for it. #fatphobia #bodyshaming #childhood #healthyrelationshipwithfood #relationshipwithfood
People default to “you’re getting so big!” When commenting on children’s growth. But to me, my mind would immediately go to my weight because of things my parents said and I would feel ashamed. Now, to my own kids I instead say “you’re growing so good!”

You are correct. I was raised this way and I have struggled my whole life. My daughter eats whatever she wants and she’s thin. When you call ur children things, they believe that’s who they are and they become it.

If you think your kids are “too fat”, you should ask your pediatrician what they think. If the pediatrician agrees, you SHOULDN’T tell your child. You can just quietly & slowly dial back how much junk they’re eating. I was also bullied into an ED for my weight, & I never want my daughter to feel that way
