I agree this isn’t a good look, step #1 is to not sell jerseys without the player being able to profit off of that sale and #2 is expanding the roster, there’s so much lost talent because of the roster size

The Valks were handed a bag and fumbled it. New team in the bay area, with huge asian population. Draft first taiwanese player, #1 jersey sold on the team, #2 sold amongst all rookies. Decides to waive her and turn away many fans at the same time.

The coach said it wasn’t the 12 most talented. They cut Sellers and tbh she’s way better than KC. They kept Chen to sell t-shirts and exploit the Asian market in the Bay Area. If we’re honest if she didn’t got to UCONN we aren’t talking about this.

The Aces waived Deja Kelly after using her for promotion, too. Not to the extent of the Valks and Chen but they had her do media day. She had her pics taken with the team, interviews, she did post game press conference. It’s wild.

the Valks pages promote all the players, if you're only seeing Kaitlyn Chen that's an algorithm thing. her videos and posts definitely got more posts but that's not on them. Chen did not have to sign the rookie contract, she knew as a third round pick the chances of being on the team were slim. definitely need more roster spots, but I don't think it's shady to let the draftees have opportunities like throwing the first pitch and play in the games, like, Kaitlyn Chen probably liked doing those things, and knew what she was signing up for

It's crazy because she's such an intelligent player. She's always precisely where she needs to be to positively impact her team. She may not give you 20 pts per game but she will facilitate for others to do so.

if you strip everything away I think you end up with a group of people in power who want to stay there. forget about everything else. all the labels blah blah blah. at the end of the day it seems like there's a group of people there already that do not want to move on and probably should have a long time ago
