The price is the price, tipping is optional. I am amazed, but I am from the UK where a tip is never expected but always appreciated if given. I will tip for genuine good service but never if rude.

Worked in the service industry my whole life. Tips are for service excellence- not MANDATORY. If you can’t afford to live off the prices you set in your OWN shop, raise the price- but it’s for EVERYONE. You don’t get to pick and choose.

I'm actually ok with this. Tipping is so customary in this field that workers count on the tips to every job they do to pay their bills. So when someone just doesn't tip as a matter of policy then he loses money. I would just tell her they can't do her nails anymore to make room for a tipping customer.

u know that tipping is voluntary when entering the service space. and u should own ur valuation on ur service. but OWN it. change the menu, say it beforehand. dont slide it under the rug. ur avoiding inner work to be kind. instead, own ur worth, value ur customers, value ur business. no need to be shy humble & cute. she better have walked out with just a $50 charge. and u never know a customers situation. u never know if the next time they tip $100. u do this bc u love it, not for the tip. financially, if u value ur craft at $60, just include the tip in the charge. change your prices!! bc in the service industry ur not ENTITLED to TIPS!
